With over 40 years of experience in hydrogen since 1985, Dr. Klaus Dirk Herwig is recognized as a pioneering voice in the field. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Energy from RWTH Aachen, a MBA in Marketing from RWTH Aachen, and a PhD in Strategic Business Planning from WHU & Kellogg. His career spans more than three decades of industry leadership with a strong focus on strategy development for industrial manufacturing companies.

As the Spokesman of the German Research Network Hydrogen, he has played a key role in shaping the research agenda for the German Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. Alongside this, he has authored several books on hydrogen and has spent the last six years as a keynote speaker for chambers and international congresses, advancing discussions on the future of Green Hydrogen.

An innovator at heart, he is also the creator of the interactive H₂ Game “HYDROGEN Market Ramp-Up”, designed to inform, motivate, and foster acceptance of hydrogen through an engaging and accessible approach. His expertise further extends to the export and import of hydrogen and its enabling technologies, covering the entire value chain and contributing to global adoption of hydrogen solutions.
